Spider Plus, the UAE dealer for UNIC Cranes Europe, recently completed a challenging glazing project at Solitaire Mall in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The task involved installing 15 large glazing units, each weighing up to 1 tonne, in a confined indoor environment—requiring skilled execution and advanced equipment.
Spider Plus was selected for their expertise in handling glazing projects in restricted spaces. Their team chose the URW-295 Mini Spider Crane, a standout in the UNIC range, offering a 2.9-tonne lifting capacity and 360° continuous slewing for enhanced versatility. This crane, combined with the Maxgrip 1200 vacuum glass lifter, was perfectly suited to the project’s demands.
The project presented multiple hurdles, including the size and weight of the glazing units. The heaviest units, weighing 900kg to 1 tonne and measuring 2.4m × 2.2m, required careful handling. Larger panels, measuring 4m × 4.6m and weighing 700kg, added complexity, especially given the restricted movement space inside the mall.
Spider Plus addressed these challenges by leveraging the URW-295’s advanced features. Equipped with four outriggers for stability and precise controls, the crane successfully transported and installed the glazing units. Its 360° slewing capability enabled efficient maneuvering from storage to installation points.
This project highlighted the importance of combining the right equipment with experienced professionals. The collaboration between Spider Plus and UNIC’s URW-295 ensured the safe and timely completion of the glazing work at Solitaire Mall.
