When construction takes place in confined urban environments, traditional cranes are not always a practical solution. This was precisely the challenge encountered at the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Spider Plus recently carried out a highly detailed façade installation using the URW-547 Spider Crane.
The task involved installing triangular glass panels weighing approximately 500–550 kg. With extremely limited space on site, accessing the façade with conventional equipment was simply not feasible. To overcome this, Spider Plus deployed the compact yet powerful URW-547, equipped with the GL-UMC600 glass manipulator. This combination enabled the team to manoeuvre the heavy glass panels with outstanding precision and control, even within very tight working areas, ensuring both efficiency and safety throughout the process.
The URW-547 Spider Crane is engineered specifically for operations in restricted or hard-to-reach environments. Despite its compact size, it offers an impressive lifting capacity, extended reach, and flexible outrigger configurations. These features allow it to stabilise effectively on uneven surfaces while maintaining precise control. Its telescopic boom and advanced hydraulic system deliver smooth, accurate movements, making the crane ideal for handling delicate materials such as glass. Paired with the specialised glass manipulator, it ensured the triangular panels were securely positioned during the underslung installation.
